Internationally famous action movie star Jet Li and his wife’s private villas, with a total construction area of about 5,370 square meters making them equal in scale to a medium-sized shopping mall, are nearly completed in Shanghai.
The houses, which are considered to be more luxurious than those of any other Chinese showbiz celebrities, are located on Huamu Road in Pudong New Area. It was said the land was bought 10 years ago for investigation and the value of the land is about 100 times higher today.

Shanghai is the hometown of Nina Li, Li’s wife. As a result, Jet Li planned to build these palace-like three villas for Nina and their two kids. The houses were designed in the European classic style. In order to avoid the noise from the viaducts, Li also paid a lot for planting the camphor trees and other large-scale plants.
Jet Li’s mansion in Shanghai is just as ostentatious. After all, it was once referred to as “The Number One Celeb Crib in China”. But what’s raising eyebrows isn’t its 200mil yuan (S$40mil) price tag but the terrible state it’s in now.

Jet bought the mansion, which is situated in a prime location in Pudong, back in 2008 but he never moved in. Rumor has it that he bought it with the intention of using it as dowry for one of his daughters. 12 years have passed since then and the house has fallen into disrepair, its outer walls stained with age. The white exterior walls of Jet Li’s mansion have been covered with thick dirt and turned into dormitory for security guards. The dormitories and courtyard gardens have also been set up to grow vegetables and even the expensive carved terraces have been used to dry mops and some blocks of luxury houses have become closed drying areas.

The mansion is arranged in the front of three villas; one main building and two auxiliary buildings. The auxiliary building was the future dowry that Jet Li bought for his two daughters at the time. The villa was built with colorful glass skylights and marble building materials. It took six years from completion to decoration. It was completed in 2010 and was once called “China’s Number One Star Luxury Mansion”.
