The following transcript below is from the video “Bruce Lee’s daughter says dad was more than just a fighter” by CGTN.

Narrator:
In his iconic tracksuit Lee has captured the imaginations of generations of Kung Fu lovers. With such a phenomenal success people tend to make many assumptions about his daughter Shannon Lee.
Shannon Lee:
People immediately assume that I am some amazingly skilled and deadly martial artist. You know I’m a 44 year old mother of a 10 year old running businesses. I’m not out there, you know practicing my ninja moves on people. (Laughs)
Narrator:
Shannon Lee is the president of the board of directors for the Bruce Lee Foundation. She thinks there’s much more to exploring the depths of her father’s life.

Shannon Lee:
I think that hopefully this exhibition will help to show a more complete picture. I think a lot of people know him as a guy who made some really awesome kung fu movies. And I think a lot of people know him as a martial artist. He was an amazing artist, he was a amazing dancer and he wrote poetry. And that he wrote, directed, produced, choreographed, starred in films. He was a loving family man, that he was a good friend to people.
Narrator:
It’s easy to appreciate Bruce Lee solely for his Kung Fu, but Shannon is driven by a deeper belief.

Shannon Lee:
In terms of the work I do for his legacy, I do that because I believe in it. I believe it has value. Spiritual value for people in the world. A part that interests me is the depth of the philosophy and the inspiration that people have felt. I mean part of one of the benefits of traveling the world and being involved in my father’s legacy is seeing how many lives he’s touched in such a positive way. And if I can keep that going, that’s meaningful.
Narrator:
The best Kung Fu and beyond. Lee’s rich legacy is certain to live on and beyond cinema. Stanley Li CCTV.
