Hello everyone, welcome to BruceLeeRealFight channel. Today we received a very bad news. It is about Bruce Lee’s former $100mil home in Hong Kong to be torn down. The old mansion of Bruce Lee is located at 41 Cumberland Road, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. It was the home where Bruce Lee spent his last years at the house with his family before his death in 1973.

Bruce Lee lived in Hong Kong as a child before returning to the United States. Hong Kong is where he was born and raise until the age of 18. It is a place where he had many street fights. It is also a place where he learned Wing Chun from Master IP Man. He was at the Kowloon mansion before his sudden death on July 20, 1973. Billionaire Yu Pang-lin then bought the house in 1974 for about HK$1 million. At one point, the house was turned into a short-stay hotel.

We think Bruce Lee fans around the world will be disappointed with the news of the imminent demolition of the building. What do you think then? Should they preserve the house or demolish it? “Hi everyone!  Welcome to BruceLeeRealFight Channel.  Today we received a very bad news.  It is about Bruce Lee’s former HK$100 million home in Hong Kong to be torn down.  This news is published on Bangkok Post on July 13, 2019.  It says the current owner of Bruce Lee’s former mansion has decided to demolish the legend’s house in Hong Kong in TWO WEEKS time!  The old mansion of Bruce Lee is located at 41 Cumberland Road, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong.

It was the home where Bruce Lee spent his last years at the house with his family before his death in 1973.  All Bruce Lee fans call for museum and his daughter Shannon Lee said she would remain open to discussing converting the property into a museum or landmark of some sort.  Unfortunately, the charitable trust that owns the building has confirmed the mansion will begin demolishing in two weeks to make way for Chinese studies centre.

Joey Lee Man-lung, vice chairman of the management committee of Yu Panglin Charitable Trust said structural problems had been discovered in the building that made maintaining it unfeasible.  He said a colorful mosaic left by Bruce Lee would be kept on the wall outside the mansion, as would four window frames in the two-story building.  Shannon Lee visited her father’s home back in 2008 and she hopes to see the home preserved.

Chairman of Bruce Lee Club in Hong Kong, Wong Yiu-Keung, had called for the building to be turned into a museum since 2008.  But now, the demolition is started and was expected to be finished by the end of 2020.  “Bruce Lee embodied the spirit of Hong Kong,” Wong said, “It is a shame our city fails to retain his former residence.”  All Bruce Lee fans in Hong Kong was disappointed the house would be torn down.
