Since the release of its first season back in 2018, it didn’t take long for Cobra Kai to become the most successful show on YouTube Premium. And with an incredible cast of characters coupled with some impressive stunt work, it’s no wonder Netflix stepped in and saved it. But what do we actually know about our favorite cast members and how many of them are in loving relationships? For all this and more, stay tuned.

Ralph Macchioas as Daniel LaRusso

First up on our list is Ralph Macchio, the man behind Daniel LaRusso:

Although not considered to be the leading man of the franchise, there’s no doubt that Ralph Macchio is one of the most recognizable cast members on the set. He’s portrayed Daniel LaRusso for more than 22 years now after all. With our first introduction to the character being all the way back in the original Karate Kid, for those of you who don’t know the 60-year-old actor was actually born in Huntington, New York on the 4 November 1961. But you wouldn’t say so considering how fantastic the man looks for his age.

According to reports, Macchio always had dreams of becoming an actor when he was younger and would often tell his parents just how famous he was going to be one day. Funny enough, it didn’t take him long to become one of the most breakout boys of the 80s. Not only did he lead one of the greatest franchises of all time in the form of The Karate Kid, he also starred in fantastic films like My Cousin Vinny and Crossroads. And although he has always been far too busy for his own good, this never stopped him from finding love. He and his wife Phyllis have actually been together for a couple of decades now. The two lovebirds met at his cousin’s sweet 16 when he was just 15 years old. And according to Macchio, he knew from that very day that he wanted to marry her. Suffice to say, they’re incredibly happy together.

William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence

Another Cobra Kai actor that cannot be ignored is William Zabka:

In fact, the showrunners agreed that they would never make the show if Zabka wasn’t on board. He was the first actor they approached with the idea of Cobra Kai and when he heard that his character Johnny Lawrence would finally get the heroic treatment he deserved, Zabka just couldn’t say no. The 56-year-old native of New York City has had a pretty long and complicated journey in Hollywood. After snatching up a few supporting roles in titles like National Lampoon’s Vacation and My Bodyguard, Zabka found himself portraying one of the most hated kids in the history of film.

But his role in The Karate Kid propelled him forward, resulting in quite a few job offers that Zabka accepted with open arms. To a large extent, he never forgot about Johnny Lawrence. In fact, he even appeared in character on shows like How I Met Your Mother in celebration of the forgotten role. So it makes absolute sense that the showrunners wanted to make a show with him at the very center. What isn’t a complicated story is his love life as William Zabka has been married to the same woman since 2008. We are, of course, referring to his wonderful wife Stacey Zabka who actually convinced him to give the role Johnny Lawrence one last shot for good measure. By the sounds of things, the couple have a very happy relationship with one another and even share two children.

Martin Kove as John Kreese

And who could forget about Martin Kove, the other antagonist of the original?

He’s a man that Hollywood loves to hate after all. And by the way, he plays the character John Kreese. We can absolutely see why. Despite being one of the most manipulative people on the silver screen, Kove is actually the direct opposite on set. The cast and crew of Cobra Kai have spoken at length about just how sweet and helpful he is to those who are new in the industry, something that feels somewhat odd coming from the face everyone knows as John Kreese. You might also be surprised to hear that Kove is already 76 years old.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 5th of March, 1946, just one year after the end of World War II. And although Kove is most famous for the antagonistic part he played in The Karate Kid franchise, he has had a number of successes in Hollywood throughout the years. The man even competed in Dancing with the Stars in 2005 and showed up in a supporting role in the critically acclaimed film Once Upon A Time In… Hollywood. He’s never been too busy for love though and actually married Vivian Kove back in 1981. This relationship did however fall apart in 2005 and after having a rather amicable divorce, Martin found himself in the arms of his current partner Mary Squire. The couple apparently has no plans to marry one another but are reportedly having the times of their lives right now.

Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz

Then we have Xolo Maridueña, who is best known for his portrayal of Miguel Diaz:

The success of Cobra Kai came from the meshing of the older more nostalgic world with newer characters and concepts in a way that brought them into the modern era. For a long time, experts in the industry believed that Karate-based shows died off in the 90s. But with fantastic characters like Miguel Diaz, it’s no wonder Cobra Kai changed their tune very quickly. The man behind the heroic Latin American is Xolo Maridueña, who is born on the 9th of June, 2001. This means that Xolo is just 20 years old at the moment and wasn’t even alive at the time that the original Karate Kid made its way to theaters.

Since he was brought up in Los Angeles though you’d think that he always had dreams of making it big in Hollywood. But according to Xolo, he actually stumbled into acting by getting a big break casting on parenthood and since that day, he knew what he wanted to do with his life, which eventually took him to the doors of Cobra Kai. Good thing too as we couldn’t imagine anyone else pulling off the role of Miguel Diaz like he does. The young man is also lucky in love, apparently. According to reports, he’s currently dating Hannah Keppel, who fans of the show will recognize as Moon. Although the two were just friends on the set of season 1, they couldn’t help themselves with season 2 came along, resulting in a rather cute on-set relationship.

Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene

Tanner Buchanan is another young gun who’s secured himself an actress.

And honestly, we expected nothing less from the Cobra Kai heartthrob. For those of you who don’t know, Buchanan is the actor behind the character Robby Keene, someone who started his journey in the light but unfortunately followed in his father’s footsteps when Miguel got a little too close for comfort. And while Robby is still making up for his past actions on the show, his personality on set has always been one for the books. Forever smiling and making jokes, he’s one of those cast members that just makes the day better, at least that’s what his co-stars say about him.

The 23-year-old was born in Ohio on the 8th of December, 1998, and had a rather lucrative career on Disney before featuring in Cobra Kai for the first time. Some might recognize him from the set of The Goldbergs, while others might recognize him from titles like Growing Up Fisher. Either way, his time behind the camera has really caused him to blow up. He even starred alongside Addison Ray in He’s All That last year. Tanner Buchanan does prefer to keep his personal life to himself though, which is why we can’t say for sure whether he’s dating someone at the moment. We know that he was linked to the actress Lizzie Broadway in the past but since the couple hasn’t posted to their joint YouTube channel in over a few years, we doubt that relationship is still a thing.

Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso

Last up we have Mary Mouser, who is by far the cutest cast member of them all!

For those of you who don’t know, she’s the actress best known for bringing the character of Samantha LaRusso to life, something she does with both emotion and intent. In fact, it’s hard to believe that Mary Mouser is just 25 years old as she portrays a character who is well beyond her years in maturity. She was actually born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on the 9th of May, 1996 and despite her young age, she already has a rather lucrative career in Hollywood.

You might recognize her from popular titles like Son Of The Mask and Bride Wars, both of which gave her the opportunity to be noticed by the showrunners of Cobra Kai. We do, however, have to disappoint fans of the franchise by letting you all know that she’s currently in a loving relationship with her boyfriend Brett Pierce. And by the look of her Instagram account, things are getting quite serious.
