Hey everyone. This is Jeff Chan from MMAShredded and in today’s video I’ll be showing you nine tactics used by Conor McGregor. If you like this video please like, comment, share and subscribe.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic One – Slip And Cross

First tactic is slipping or leaning back against the cross of an orthodox opponent and firing back with a cross. Conor either slips without moving his feet or he steps this side as he slips. Conor hits this on Jose Aldo, Nate Diaz, Eddie Alvarez and Ivan Buchinger. Here it is in sparring. You can apply this tactic off the jab of an orthodox fighter. If you are an orthodox fighter yourself harder to time because your opponent will not admit to the jab as often as he would throw the cross. And here I try it in an Orthodox stance against a southpaw stance. And here I try in a Southpaw stance against an orthodox fighter. And here are a few that I was too slow to cover. It’s okay to practice and look for the slip counter during sparring but make sure you are careful for the head kick.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Two – The Lead Hand Corkscrew Uppercut Followed By A Cross

When Conor throws the corkscrew uppercut he steps outside of his Orthodox opponents that lead but to create angle and he falls up for that cross. Conor has been seen using this against the following orthodox fighters Max Holloway, Dennis Siver, Eddie Alvarez, Chad Mendes and Nate Diaz. Here it is in my sparring. And here I try it in a Orthodox stance against a southpaw stance.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Three – Lead Leg Shuffle Side Kick

Conor uses this against Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway and Dennis Siver. Conor stands in a wide stance and almost a bit sideways. He then shuffles his rear foot, then replaces his lead foot. And his lead foot becomes the weapon to strike. Here it is in my sparring.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Four – Lead Leg Shuffle Heel Kick

With the same foot work as tactic three Conor goes up high and kicks his opponents head with his heel. Conor attempted this against Dennis Siver, Max Hallway and Dustin Poirier. Here it is in my sparring. Although I never actually landed it.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Five – Spinning Side Kick

To execute this Conor steps on board with his lead leg, pivots and turns to launch his rear foot into his opponent’s body. Conor uses this against Chad Mendes, Diego Brandao, Dennis Siver and Dustin Porier. Here it is in my sparring but I use it in an Orthodox stance.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Six – The Spinning Heel Kick

The same foot work from tactic five is used except Conor heel kicks to the head. Connor uses this against Dennis Siver. Dustin Poirier and Diego Brandao.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Seven – The Rear Uppercut Hook Cross Counter

Conor backs up against an aggressive pressuring Marcus and launches the rear upper cut hook cross. Conor is seen using this counter to finish Marcus Brimage. Here it is in my sparring in my Orthodox stance and here it is in a Southpaw stance.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Eight – Rear Leg Scissor Kick

You’ve seen it in my video on [?] the rear leg scissor kick. To execute this technique step forward and push off your rear foot lifting your lead knee up to fake and scissoring your legs to throw the left high kick. Conner uses this against Dennis Siver and Max Hallway. Here it is in my sparring.

Jeff Chan (MMA Fighter in ONE Championship):

Tactic Nine – The Rear Push Kick Into A Jab Cross

Conner uses this against Eddie Alvarez and knocks off Chad Mendes with this combination.
