Aquaman is a 2018 American superhero film based on the superhero of the same name. Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is the sixth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film was directed by James Wan, from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall. It stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, who sets out to lead the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and stop his half-brother, King Orm from uniting the seven underwater kingdoms against the surface world. Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ludi Lin, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman appear in supporting roles.

Aquaman premiered in London on November 26, 2018, and was released in the United States on December 21. It grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing DCEU film, the highest-grossing film based on a DC Comics character (surpassing 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises), the fifth highest-grossing film of 2018, and 20th highest of all-time at the time. The critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes says the film “delivers energetic action with an emphasis on good old-fashioned fun”. A sequel, Aquaman 2, is set for release on December 16, 2022, and a spin-off, The Trench, is in development.

WOULD DONNIE YEN PLAY A SUPERHERO?

Donnie Yen:

“Well, it’s really depends on the role. Actually, I was approached, uh, to be in the first Aquaman by Zack Snyder, but, uh, I was, I think I was in commitment with another film at the time and somehow…but we still in talk. I’m still open for any possibility as an actor. I like to explore. If the role represents along the line with what I like about the role, in the movie, the contents and the message, then I definitely would consider.”
