One of the most popular stories of Bruce Lee being challenged to a real fight was on the set of Enter The Dragon in 1973. Back in 1973, Bruce Lee was filming a massive scenes involving Han’s (Shek Kin) 400+ soldiers on his island. This scene requires a lot of extras and the film company decided to hire extras from anywhere they can, including some mafia members in Hong Kong that time. Back to the set, Bruce Lee was teaching some of these extras how to fight and how to fight better when filming. Bruce Lee was teaching some of these extras how to fight and how to fight better when filming.  All of a sudden, one of the extras shout to Bruce Lee, “You aren’t as good as you think you are,” and then he jumps down from the wall to challenge Bruce.  According to Robert Clouse, the director of this film, his recollection is that Bruce Lee laughed most of these jabs off.  However, this young man who shouted at Bruce Lee, were insulting with bad words.

Therefore, Bruce was thinking to give this young man a real lesson.  While Bruce is ready to give him a lesson, another man jumped out and wanted to challenge Bruce.  Of course, Bruce takes both of them together.  Who wins the fight?  Of course, it was Bruce Lee.  This fight were witnessed by hundreds of people on the set, includes other martial artists and actors such as Bolo Yeung and the director Robert Clouse.

“This is what Clouse said during an interview, “Bruce wouldn’t move as the kick would invariably fall short.  Then Bruce would lash out two or three times, not trying to kill him, but to mark him.  Draw blood, as it were,” Clouse recalled.  “I saw one fellow who didn’t seem to have a mark on him after this exchange.  I didn’t believe he had been hit until he opened his mouth and revealed it was full of blood.”

“This is definitely one great story that adds to the legend of Bruce Lee.  What do you think about the fight between Bruce Lee and extras?  Please feel free to leave your comment below.  Please LIKE, Share, Subscribe & Ring the notification bell!  Thanks for watching!”
