Xie Wei is one of the brightest young stars in ONE’s flyweight division. Growing up in Guangzhou, China, Xie was fascinated by videos of Shaolin monks. And at age 14, he moved to the legendary Shaolin Temple. Xie spent 4 years training with the monks, even becoming a coach. But wanting to chase his MMA dream, the hunter left the temple in 2016.

Xie burst onto the scene in 2019, scoring 4 straight knockouts in ONE Hero series and after a 46-second KO in ONE Warrior series, he was awarded a 6-figure contract with ONE. Xie lost at close decision in his debut to number 4 flyweight contender Danny Kingad but the Shaolin star has been flawless since.

ONE Championship:

First on in his list with Cambodia’s finest Kun Khmer master Chan Rothana. Next with top Indian prospect Kantharaj Agasa. And last July, Xie became the first TKO former world title challenger Dae Hwan Kim.

On the 3rd of June, Xie fights for the #5 flyweight ranking against fan-favourite grappler Reece McLaren.

I know Reece has been in ONE a long time and fought many tough battles. His skills are very good. In other areas, I don’t feel he’s that big of a threat. Reece McLaren, no opponent has ever been able to take me down and take home the win.
