Stephen Tung Wai (Chinese actor, martial artist, choreographer, the kid in Enter the Dragon):

The first time I met Bruce Lee was at the sixth floor of Hong Kong Hotel.  I was very impressed.  He just finished filming The Big Boss and we were introduced by Han Ying-chieh and the late actor Lam Ching-ying.

The man in this interview is Stephen Tung Wai.  He played the young student who has a discussion and sparring session with Bruce Lee in 1973 Enter the Dragon.  Stephen Tung witnessed a few crazy things performed by Bruce Lee.  Here’s a rare interview of him telling everyone how strong was Bruce Lee.

Stephen Tung Wai (Chinese actor, martial artist, choreographer, the kid in Enter the Dragon):

They said there was a guy who was very good at fighting, so they wanted to introduce him to me.  Then we met at the sixth floor of Hong Kong Hotel.  He wore a blue denim shirt with a white t-shirt inside and a pair of jeans.  Bruce Lee looked very skinny and he had a beard.  He wore a pair of Ray-Ban glasses.  It was his trademark.  We had a coffee there.  Of course, when we were young, we were all not that humbled and Ching-ying said he was so powerful.

Stephen Tung Wai (Chinese actor, martial artist, choreographer, the kid in Enter the Dragon):

I had my doubts.  He was so skinny.  How could he be that powerful?  But he really impressed me.  I just wanted to say, “Wow!”  You know, “Wow!”  I think you may know, he took off his clothes and he did 12 pushups using only two fingers.  Basically, he looked totally different before and after taking off his clothes.  His back muscles could stretch up to 3.5 inches, and that surprised us.

Stephen Tung Wai (Chinese actor, martial artist, choreographer, the kid in Enter the Dragon):

Many people can do pushups with two fingers now.  You know, it’s very common but one thing I think they are still unable to do and it’s about the power of flexibility – the explosiveness of a particular muscle.  You imagine, you stand here and you reach down, and all the way down but you cannot bend your knees.  Measure three palm’s length from your feet.  Put your thumb on the floor like this and use your mouth to touch the top like this without bending your knees.

Stephen Tung Wai (Chinese actor, martial artist, choreographer, the kid in Enter the Dragon):

No one else can ever do it.  We were trained since we were young and we worked hard to learn the flexibility and power of the core and hip muscles.  We were very familiar with these actions.  So when we first saw Bruce Lee doing this, we all knew the level of difficulty.  I was so stunned, very impressed!  I can even say that he shocked me.
