Gokuflex:

“What’s up Saiyan Army? Welcome to the video.”

“So, as you can see from the title, we’re gonna be doing a little different type of video today. We are living like Bruce Lee for 24 hours. Now I still remember like the first time I’ve ever seen Bruce Lee, I remember being like a kid, just super young and my dad was watching one of his movies. He showed me who Bruce Lee was and I remember it was like seeing a real life Goku for the first time. I was just amazed at his strength, his speed, his agility…you know how badass he was in his movies and just being in awe. And I’m just super excited to be doing this video. Let’s get Bruce Lee’s morning started.”

“All right, so, starting off Bruce Lee’s breakfast. So, something interesting that I learned while doing the research for this video is, I didn’t realize how I guess knowledgeable and educated Bruce Lee was on bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is something that Bruce Lee studied, and the way Bruce Lee looked, and we all talked about Bruce’s physique and how crazy the physique he had, especially for that time and he didn’t get that physique by mistake. He trained really hard obviously, not just martial arts but he also lifted weights as you guys will see later on in this video. And even those supplements weren’t super popular back in the day. They weren’t making a lot of supplements that they make today. Um, he did a lot of research on what he was inputting in his body, all the vitamins, all the minerals and he found out what works for him and what made him feel the best. So, that’s how we’re getting our morning started.”

Gokuflex:

“He had some orange juice in the morning to get that Vitamin C. Next, he would drink some Lipton Black Tea. He would also throw in some raw honey, which we’re gonna do right now. And he would also throw in some royal jelly. Now royal jelly, I’ve never used this stuff before. Um, it’s apparently nature’s food that queen bee feeds on and incredibly…oh, so, this is the stuff that the queen bee eats. It says to take about one to two tablespoons a day. And the last thing that Bruce Lee would eat would be liver, kanji. Now I don’t think I’ve ever eaten liver before. So, this is gonna be a first. My grandma used to make me jook when I was younger as a kid, but it was like chicken jook, it wasn’t really liver or anything. Uh, kind of scared. Let’s see how this goes. Also, with the kanji, what you can add is some ginger and we’re gonna add some green onions to it as well. This is also what Bruce Lee liked to do. I don’t know how this is gonna taste. It smells very irony like liver. Oh, that’s super hot.”

“I mean the liver doesn’t taste that bad. It just has a weird texture and a weird aftertaste, but if I was starving and I had absolutely nothing to eat, that would definitely go down a lot easier. We’ll try the tea with the royal jelly and the honey. Tastes good, I mean it tastes just like, I mean obviously the honey and the royal jelly just makes it super sweet. So, Bruce Lee likes to add royal jelly for lots of its micronutrients, lots of B Vitamins. Tea, in general, is very good. It helps circulation. It’s good for digestion, has some caffeine in it. So, this was like Bruce Lee’s coffee, was his tea. It was his way to start his morning, to get a little bit of caffeine in the morning to get his day going. And the jook and the orange juice obviously, more Vitamins, Carbs, some Protein in there as well. So, I’m gonna eat this. I got practice in 15 minutes, let’s go.”

Gokuflex:

“All right. So, just got the training and my stomach is sore. I don’t think the liver is sitting very well with my stomach right now. And I really hope I don’t poop my pants during training, but we will see. No promises. Anyways, as you guys know Bruce Lee was a master at martial arts. It’s what a lot of us know him for. He was a master specifically in kung fu. So, a little background on him was, he originally started training wing chun which was under Ip Man. If you guys haven’t seen Ip Man, go and watch that movie. Ip Man is amazing. Donnie Yen is a true badass and he’s the guy that trained Bruce Lee. After that, he moved to America and that’s where he created jeet kune do, which meant ‘the way of the intercepting fist’. It was pretty much known as street kung fu.”

Man:

“What’s your style?”

Bruce Lee:

“My style? You can call it the art of fighting, without fighting.”

Gokuflex:

“And because Bruce Lee used to get into so many street fights, he created this style. And today we’re going to be training Muay Thai. I haven’t trained in the past month because of quarantine on lockdown, here in Hawaii. So, I’m super rusty. Um, I’ve been trying to keep up my cardio as best as possible but you know, we’ll do our best, we’re gonna get our ass kicked but that’s the fun part about training, you know. Getting your ass kicked and getting better, getting stronger, getting sharper and let’s go.”

Gokuflex:

“All right. So, we just finished training. Shout out to Louie. Thank you for being my punching bag today and helping me train today. Um, so, Louie right now, is raising money for a non-profit to help dogs. He’s written a children’s book about dogs to help with dogs, right?”

Louie Godoy:

“Yeah, that’s right. So, uh, the book is called, ‘Don’t Turn your Back on the Ocean’. Um, so, it’s only available on Amazon right now. So, please look it up. You can just look at my name it’s Louie Godoy on Amazon. And please support.”

Gokuflex:

“And go check it out. Also, coach, today I told you we’re filming a Bruce Lee for 24 hours.”

Training Coach:

“Oh, okay.”

Gokuflex:

“So, as a martial artist, how has Bruce Lee influenced you and your training?”

Training Coach:

“Bruce Lee really did an amazing job at helping evolve the support of martial arts in America. Training martial arts, I believe his theory was if it works, keep it. If it doesn’t, throw it away. I feel like if it wasn’t for Bruce Lee, then our world of martial arts, doesn’t matter what style you train, wouldn’t be as evolved as it is today.”

Gokuflex:

“All right. So, just got back from training and we are on to the next meal. So, now we’re gonna drink Bruce Lee’s protein shake. As I told you guys earlier, Bruce Lee was into bodybuilding even though he wasn’t a bodybuilder. He was into like bodybuilding the nutrition, the supplementation. One thing Bruce Lee did try to stay away from was dairy though. So, he didn’t drink milk. He didn’t eat cheese. Um, he did do eggs. And for the milk, he also did powdered milk because he found out it was just easier on his stomach. So, apparently you need a fourth cup of dry milk for one cup of water. I’ve never had powdered milk before. It tastes pretty much like milk, just watered down. Something he also did add was also wheat germ oil. So, he did, we got one teaspoon per serving. Right there. We got one serving of Brewer’s Yeast. One serving of lecithin. I’ve never even done pills in a smoothie before but we’re just going to throw it in there. And then he had one serving of Inositol. I don’t know how to pronounce it, that’s how I’m pronounce it. So, Bruce Lee also did like peanut butter. We got some natty peanut butter here. Next, we got eggs.”

Gokuflex:

“So, something that I read about Bruce Lee and his eggs is sometimes he blended the eggs with the shells on. I’m gonna do a quick Google search to double check. While Bruce wrote that he ate eggshells he never described why he did. In the 1960s, egg, eating eggshells was a trend with some American bodybuilders, who believe they’re high in protein, a myth that still seems to persist in some bodybuilding cycles. So, we eat the eggshells, damn it. First time for everything. Bam! Maybe I should just do one egg, oh well. I got some banana and last but not least is ice. It doesn’t smell gross, but it doesn’t smell like edible either. Oh, man. There’s too much. Let’s give it a little taste test. It’s still crunchy. Oddly, it’s still crunchy. I blended that thing up so well. It tastes like really milky powdery banana. I think this was also done before protein powder was invented, which is why Bruce Lee wanted to do the eggs and stuff. So, I’m assuming if Bruce was around still, you see what added protein powder into this.”

“All right. So, heading to the store now to pick up some last-minute things and just wanted to talk about something that I found really interesting. So, I was watching the ‘30 for 30’ Bruce Lee documentary, I believe it’s called, ‘Be Water’. What I didn’t know was how involved Bruce Lee was in acting. I didn’t realize that he was acting from like eight years old. He was like a child star in China and then he acted here and then went back to China. And did more acting here and it wasn’t until like I guess being like an American and didn’t really know about him until he started making it big, like he started doing like ‘Enter the Dragon’ down here. I think that was the first movie I’ve ever seen of Bruce Lee. So, it was super interesting. So, I highly recommend that documentary, if you guys want to like dive a little bit more into his life. I wouldn’t recommend it if you guys are just looking to find about, find out about his martial arts side and all that stuff. Because it doesn’t really dive too deep into it, um, but it does talk about his life, his acting, um, does have like his, has his daughter talking, has his wife. And yeah, it’s just really, really interesting. But we’re at the store now and let’s get the rest of our food.'”

Gokuflex:

“All right. Next meal is Bruce Lee’s absolute favorite meal. We got beef with oyster sauce and rice. This was my first time using a wok, don’t judge me. He’s is with a salad. I got this Asian salad. He kind of specifies garden salad. I’m not exactly sure but I just got, picked up Asian style. A lot of salad was sold out to be honest at the supermarkets. And he usually drinks this with Lei Cha tea. I couldn’t find Lei Cha tea at all. I went to like four or five different stores, could not find it. But I’m just gonna be drinking it with another Lipton tea. Just try this beef out. Not bad for my first time. Definitely sort of probably added more oil. I made it more crispy and fatty, getting the protein in, got the micronutrients, got the antioxidants, very well-balanced meal. I’m gonna eat this and then we’re hitting a Bruce Lee workout. So, stay tuned.”

“Alright. So, next we’re gonna be doing Bruce Lee’s workout. From what I read; Bruce Lee works out about four hours every single day. His workouts kind of change depending on what day it is. So, on certain days he likes to do running. I read he does seven mile runs about two to three times a week. He does martial arts every day and then he also does weightlifting on top of that. Today we’ll be going through the weight training portion. So, honestly, throughout this whole video and even just studying for this video, I think I knew like maybe a fraction of what I do now about Bruce Lee. And it’s really helping me grow appreciation and understanding that I didn’t have about him before. Like before, I thought he was just some badass martial artist, you know. Could do the one-inch punch, all the things we’ve seen, the two-finger push-ups, all these amazing feats, all this one arm pull-ups. Um, I don’t know if he did couple finger pull-ups, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was doing that. But you know, he was just some guy that we saw in the movies that could move really fast and just kick ass. But I’m growing as just a true appreciation for him because I’m realizing how much he understood his body, how much he took care of his body, how much he watched like what went into his body. He wasn’t just some guy that was naturally gifted and talented, but he really put in the work behind it and that’s what I really appreciate. I appreciate the people that you know give it their all. So, really enjoying this. And today I found one of Bruce’s workouts and that’s what I’ll do. It’s a full body workout, um, I also read that he likes to do supersets. This workout does not have super sets in it. So, I’m just gonna do straight sets for this workout and we’re gonna kill it. So, enjoy.”

Gokuflex:

“Okay. So, we just finished a workout. Now typically I’m assuming Bruce Lee would drink another one of his nastiest protein shakes, but I think one is good for the day. Uh, between that and the liver, I don’t know, both of them made my stomach sore and I was picking eggshells out of my teeth for like the next couple of hours. Literally the eggshells got into like fine sand like and just yeah, anyways. Bruce Lee is huge into juicing and two of his favorite juices that I like to mix is carrot juice and apple juice. So, we got fresh carrot juice, fresh apple juice. I do not have a juicer. I’m not even gonna like drinking this to be honest but we’re gonna mix it up and hopefully it tastes good. I mean, anything with apple juice normally is pretty damn good. Oh, that carrot is strong too. That’s amazing. Either this apple juice is very weak, whereas carrot juice is very strong. They almost like null each other out. So, it’s almost like you’re tasting like really watery carrot juice. And it yeah, it almost has like no taste. It’s really weird but yeah this is something that Bruce Lee drank every single day to get his micronutrients in and that’s why he performed so well. Take care of your body. Be healthy. Perform well. And see you guys at dinner.”

“All right. So, here we have Bruce Lee’s final meal. So, Bruce Lee is a huge spaghetti fan. Um, I ended up using protein pasta to get some extra protein in here as well. And he also eats that with a salad again on the side and oddly enough he drinks this with milk. So, even though Bruce Lee tries to avoid dairy as much as possible, he has the powdered milk in his protein shakes and he eats eggs, he stays away from cheese and stuff, um, I believe the reason why and I’m not 100% sure about this but I believe the reason why he does drink milk at night is because of the casein protein. So, upon doing more research, yes, he did drink whey protein in his shakes. And he did drink casein protein as well. And milk has a high amount of casein protein, which is great for digestion. Casein protein is a slower digesting protein. So, your body will absorb it throughout the night. No, it is not mandatory. No, I don’t even drink it or worry about it. But I believe that’s why he drinks two percent milk, um, at night, right before bed. So, we’re gonna eat this. I am starving and we’re gonna enjoy it.”

Gokuflex:

“Alright. It’s 12 o’clock now and I’ve been working all night on client online coaching stuff. I still have some slots available if you guys can check it out. Email me at [email protected] and I still got a lot of work to do. So, I’m going to close out the video here, but before I go, I just want to end this with one of Bruce Lee’s most famous quotes and that is the water quote.”

Bruce Lee:

“I said empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put in a teapot; it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow, or it can crash. Be water my friend.”

Gokuflex:

“I remember listening to the water quote when I first heard it and thinking that it directly talked, was talking about fighting. Meaning like you want to be loose in the ring, you want to float in the ring, float like a butterfly. You don’t want to be stiff; you know. And for me that’s one of my biggest problems. Just because I’ve been lifting weights for so long and a lot of people with a lot of muscle that’s what happens when they get into the fight game, you know. A lot of times they have a hard time because they’re so stiff. So, I interpreted it that way meaning be like water, be loose, flow in the ring. But after doing this video and doing all this research on Bruce Lee, it’s really changed my perception on him and now I interpret that quote to life. And yes, I co-relate to martial arts but for me my perception has changed.”

“During that ‘30 for 30: Be Water’ segment that I watched last night with Bruce Lee, how he came up with that quote is he had an epiphany. He was on a boat. I guess he was frustrated. He just needed to you know, get off land and he was on the water. And he was just angry. And basically, what he did was he took his fist and punched the water and that’s how the water quote came about. He realized that he couldn’t hurt water. The water conformed to him and that’s how I look at that quote. He talks about getting water and pouring it in a cup and the water conforming to the cup and he tells you to be like water.”

Gokuflex:

“And I think that’s just like life. Life’s gonna throw you, hit you every which way but you can’t let those hits hurt you. You can’t let life hurt you. You need to conform to it, you know. Like let’s say you’re water and you’re in a glass and you know someone drops a fork in the water. Of course, you know, you throw a fork in you, it’s gonna hurt but if you’re like water you just conform to the fork and you learn to work through it. And that’s life in general. And that’s what it’s all about. We can’t control the crap that life throws at us, but we can control how we act towards it. Do we take it as a learning lesson, do we get mad, do we get angry, do we get depressed, do we want to quit, you know, all those feelings rush towards you when you have things thrown at you in life. And we just need to be like water. We need to conform and conquer. And that’s pretty much it.”

“Sorry for the long rant. Appreciate you guys watching. Let me know any other day in the life kind of videos you guys would like to see. And I’ll see you guys in the next one.
