Hey guys and welcome back to Amolipi channel. Lucy Liu is a beautiful and talented actress, who is probably best known to audiences for her role Alex, one of the three protagonists of the Charlie’s Angels movie. Let’s get to know more about her with us.

Lucy Liu is an American actress, producer and artist who has worked in both television and film, born on December 2, 1968 in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. Stunningly beautiful and fiercely intelligent, actress Lucy Liu broke free of many of the stereotypes that typically pigeonholed Asian performers, particularly female in Hollywood. Liu’s most famous appearances were probably the action franchise Charlie’s Angels as Alex Munday and television series Ally McBeal as Ling Woo.

Liu is the youngest of three children born to Tom Liu, a trained civil engineer who sold digital clock pens and Cecilia, who worked as a biochemist. Her parents originally came from Beijing and Shanghai but met in New York. She has an older brother, Alex and an older sister, Jenny. Liu enrolled at University of Michigan and earned a bachelor’s degree in Asian languages and cultures.



Lucy usually keeps quiet about her love life but to what we know, she has been with quite a few men over the years. In 2000, Lucy Liu was seen out on the arm of famous actor George Clooney. The chemistry was there but after a while, they drifted apart.


Actor Will McCormack was the man in her life for three years between 2004 and 2007. As usual, Lucy didn’t have much to say about their relationship.


By 2010, Liu was linked with Israeli hedge fund billionaire Noam Gottesman. As Gottesman employed 24/7 security guards so there weren’t many snaps of the two together. They split in 2014.


Liu later became a single parent by choice. She has a biological son, Rockwell, who was born in 2015 via gestational surrogate. Liu stated that the method was the right option for her as she was busy working, and pregnancy would have been pretty high-risk as she was in her mid-40s.



During her senior year at the university, Liu auditioned for a supporting part in a school production of Alice in Wonderland and, to her surprise, she won the lead role. Her earliest television job was a small role on the teen drama Beverly Hills and 90210. Over the next several years, Liu made appearances on popular television shows then got her big break when she auditioned for the part of Nelle Porter on the hit comedy Ally McBeal. Though she didn’t get that part but the character Ling Woo was later created specifically for her. Liu won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress for her performance.

On the big screen, Liu grabbed audiences’ attention as Alex Munday in the comedy crime film Charlie’s Angels in 2000 and its 2003 sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Liu had a good deal more luck in the 2000s, starring in strings of television series and films, most notably were Shanghai Noon (2000), crime-drama series Elementary (2012–2019), The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) among others. In April 2021, Liu was cast as the villainess Kalypso in the upcoming superhero film Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Liu is also an accomplished visual artist who has even displayed her mixed media compositions at galleries in New York and Los Angeles.

The actress provided voice acting for Master Viper in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, Silvermist in the Tinker Bell series and Princess Mei in Mulan II.

Liu is a supporter of marriage equality for same-sex marriage, and became a spokeswoman for the Human Rights Campaign in 2011.

She was also the spokeswoman for the Lee National Denim Day fundraiser, which raises money for breast cancer research and education.
