Hafu:

Today we got absolute beginners to attempt the world’s hardest Kung Fu training. We got a total of 5 challengers and whoever wins the most will get a big prize at the end.

Students:

Hello master.

Master Yandi:

Hello everyone!

Challenge 1: Horse Stance

We’re going to start our first challenge.

Hafu:

The first Shaolin Kung Fu challenge is extreme horse stance.

Master Yandi:

Add water to all the bowls. I want to make it harder.

Hafu:

Trainees will be paired up and whoever drops a bowl first loses. I’m excited to beat some ass.

Aylex vs Mike

Aylex:

Excited about winning.

Hafu:

Got it? Stop shaking.

Mike:

I believe I can win.

Aylex – Winner

Jensen vs Edward

Jensen:

You gotta believe to achieve. So I believe.

Edward – Winner

Hafu vs Sheldon

Master Yandi:

Okay the last two people.

Hafu:

There’s actually one challenge day that I failed. This time, it won’t happen again.

This was not placed properly. It was falling bro. I literally think Aylex sabotaged me.

Aylex:

It’s not so much the challenges, it’s more of beating my opponents, especially Hafu.

Hafu:

Not going according to plan buddy? Not going according to plan?

Aylex:

It was Hafu’s fault. He had 30 days of training. This is not an excuse.

Challenge 2: Splits

Master Yandi:

The second challenge is tendon extension. We’re going to use this wall to measure the flexibility of your tendons.

Hafu:

Here’s how we will do. First one with the shortest distance between the foot and the head will be the winner.

Jensen:

Challenge I’m most afraid of is the flexible ones because I am very not flexible.

Hafu:

A little up. Okay, make it straight. 1,2,3. Okay, right here. Okay, 29 inches. Edward.

Sheldon:

I’ll tell you right now, actually my money would be most on Edward. Yeah.

Hafu:

Oh, wow! 22 inches.

Hafu:

Are you ready? 31. You’re last right now.

Hafu:

It’s slipping.

Master Yandi:

The most flexible, stand there. The least flexible, stand here. Give me your scores.

Edward: 22 cm
Aylex: 25.5 cm
Hafu: 26 cm
Sheldon: 29 cm
Jensen: 29 cm
Mike: 33 cm

Master Yandi:

There’s a saying in Chinese medicine, “Extend your tendons by one inch, extend your life by ten years”. So in your daily life, you should stretch for your health.

Hafu:

Edward is now in the lead with 2 points.

Master Yandi:

Let’s move on to the next challenge.

Challenge 3: Blossom Stakes

Master Yandi:

Do you see these stakes? They’re called Blossom Stakes. So next, we’ll perform some tests on these Blossom Stakes.

1. Stand
2. High Knee
3. Kick
4. Balance

Then come back. Action.

Hafu:

Before we move on to the next challenge, I want to tell you an interesting fact about Shaolin training. So master Yandi actually learns English as a part of his Shaolin training.

Hafu:

You guys practice English?

Master Yandi:

Yeah.

Hafu:

Because he wanted to share Shaolin culture and his teachings to a wider audience, he needed to speak English, which is a universal language. And recently, I found a really cool way you can quickly learn English. Our sponsor Lingoda: how to speak English like a local by connecting you to local English speakers through live immersion classes. They offer English, business English, Spanish, French or German. Lingoda holds group training sessions on Zoom for a range of abilities from beginning to advanced. So, no matter who you are, you can learn with Lingoda. What makes Lingoda different from other apps or websites is the fact that you get 24/7 live face to face learning. So you get to practice speaking English and get corrected in real time. And today, you can try Lingoda for Free. Just click the link below to sign for a 7-day free trial and you get either 3 group classes or 1 private session. Also, you can get up to 40% off your first purchase. Now, back to the challenge.

Aylex:

I think I’m gonna do well because I have tons of training and tons of experience and I’m a Shaolin master.

Hafu:

Wait, for real?

Aylex:

No, but I will be after today.

Hafu:

Everyone had a pretty strong start but some people had better balance than others. Gotta go beyond the pain.

Hafu:

Now it’s a 3-way tie for first.

Challenge 4: Reverse Plank

Master Yandi:

Okay, time for the next challenge. Do you see this? It’s like a bed but it’s hollow. We’re going to use this to sleep. This upcoming challenge is called Suspended Plank. You must lay here with empty space beneath you.

3,2,1. Go!

Jensen:

I didn’t win any of the other challenges, so I’m pretty happy with this one.

Hafu:

The next challenge will determine today’s winner.

The final challenge: Stair Crawl

Master Yandi:

Now we’ll start the last challenge. You can probably see these long stairs. There are 500 steps. You’re going to crawl down.

Hafu:

So, we run up then crawl down.

Jensen:

The challenger I’m most afraid of is Hafu because he’s been practicing for months.

Mike:

I’ll destroy Hafu’s morale before he starts.

Aylex:

Why would you even think about it if you’re not going to lose.

Hafu:

I believe I can win this because I’m the most experienced.

3,2,1. Go!

Hafu:

Everyone is even at the start but I soon took over the lead. After getting to the top, we now have to crawl down the next 500 steps. What the camera cannot show is how painful this exercise really is. Everyone overtook me as a leader. Now I’m trying to catch up. Master Yandi didn’t train me to give up.

Hafu:

We have bruises. This is a part of Shaolin Kung Fu training. Pain is a necessary part of growth, that’s what Master Yandi told me.

Master Yandi:

For the past month, I trained Hafu in Shaolin Kung Fu. At first, he thought it would be easy but he later realised that real Kung Fu takes time and effort.

Hafu:

Alright guys, we’ve had an extremely long day. All of you worked really hard. Now I’m gonna present the winner. Even though I’ve been training with Master Yandi for a month, I did not win this challenge but I’m not too upset because Shaolin Kung Fu is all about progressing yourself. So as long as we’re pushing our own boundaries each time we’re training, that’s all that matters. And the winner today is Edward. And I feel like you’ve exemplified that mentality of going beyond, so I wanna present you a gift.

Edward:

Go Beyond shirt?

Hafu:

Yes. Go beyond!
