American actor, director, screenwriter, producer Sylvester Stallone was born Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone on July 6th, 1946 in Manhattan, New York. An icon of machismo and Hollywood action heroism, Sylvester Stallone is responsible for creating characters who have become a part of the American culture. Boxer Rocky Balboa in the Academy Award-winning boxing film Rocky (1976), Vietnam War veteran John Rambo in 1982’s movie First Blood and Barney Ross from The Expendables franchise.

Stallone’s acting career began to flourish when he wrote and starred in his screen-play about an aspiring boxer in Philadelphia- Rocky. The film “Rocky” was released in 1976 and helped Stallone gain immediate A-list status and world fame. Rocky parts 2-3 and box-office smash hit action series “Rambo” followed shortly after and all films exceeded expectations. Although, since then he did have a bit of a decline in his acting career with a few not-so-successful films in the mid 1990’s, Stallone didn’t let his failures stop him from succeeding.

Stallone had a difficult childhood with a few years in foster care after his parent’s divorce. His father was an Italian-American hairdresser named Francesco Stallone Sr., born in 191 and died in 2011. His mother is Jacqueline Frances Stallone, an astrologer, dancer, and a promoter of women’s wrestling. Stallone’s younger brother is actor and musician Francesco “Frank” Stallone, Jr.
Stallone has been married three times. In 1974, at age 28, he married photographer Sasha Czack. They had two sons, Sage Moonblood, who died of heart disease at age 36 in 2012, and Seargeoh, who was diagnosed with autism at an early age. The couple divorced on February, 1985.
On December the same year, Stallone married model and actress Brigitte Nielsen. Their marriage lasted only 2 years and was highly publicized in the media.

Stallone is often spotted in Los Angeles driving his Bugatti Veyron with friend and fellow Expendables castmate, Arnold Schwarzenegger. With over 1,000 horsepower churning out of an 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Veyron costs at least a whopping $1.5 million to own.
Stallone owns one car built by Italy’s most famous automotive manufacturer, Ferrari. Stallone’s distinctive facial feature was the result of some slight mishandling at birth. The physician used a pair of forceps to deliver him, and the malpractice left his lip, chin, and part of his tongue partially paralyzed due to a severed nerve. Burdened with low self-esteem about his appearance, Stallone turned to bodybuilding and later performing as a way of breaking through what seemed to be a consensus of low expectations.
Stallone did turn down many big roles in huge successful movies. Not only the lead role in Die Hard, which would go to Bruce Willis, he also said no to Superman, which went to Christopher Reeve; the lead in Beverly Hills Cop, which went to Eddie Murphy; and Richard Gere lucked out when Stallone turned down Pretty Woman.
