The transcript below is from the video “Taiwanese Fantasy Novel Fan Challenges MMA Fighter” by Fight Commentary Breakdowns.

Fight Commentary Breakdowns (The YouTube Channel That Breaks Down Martial Arts):

As if it couldn’t get any worse, this is the freakshow of all freakshows. A Taiwanese fantasy novel reader who likes Louis Cha (Jinyong) books decided to try his forbidden palm technique on a fitness gym owner and mma fighter in Taiwan. This is probably one of the most ridiculous sparring sessions we’ve ever seen in the entire history of martial arts. Is there any mismatch worse than this? Also, props to the MMA guy for taking it easy on the fantasy novel reader. The MMA fighter is 陳之漢 (Chen Zhi Han aka Holger Chen or Chen Chih-han) and the Fantasy novel fan is 游兆霖 (You Zhao Lin).

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

So, we have a guy who is challenging this MMA guy. So, this is a famous Taiwanese MMA fighter, and this is a kung fu self-proclaimed kung-fu master. He has a reputation in Taiwan as kind of like the Charlie Zelenoff.

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

Look at him (Laughs) goes in for a tackle. (Laughs) Oh no. (Laughs) Oh my goodness, guys. What are we watching? Oh, oh! It’s ground and pat…well, MMA guy lets him up. So, not only is he, I don’t think this guy has trained a day in his life. Oh! What is he doing? Oh, no, man. (Laughs) These guys give kung fu a bad name, man. So, this guy is known to be kind of like a Charlie Zelenoff like character. He just challenges random people, but the difference is Charlie Zelenoff sometimes wins. Oh! Ow! Because he, um, he like you know blindsides the fighters, right? This guy doesn’t seem to win any of his matches.

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

Wow, guys. That was it man. Look at that. The guy is on the ground for quite a while. Did they let him up? Guys, I don’t know. Oh, there he is. He’s good. He’s okay. So, he put, he puts on his kung fu thing, he’s a yellow sash, um, so, I guess he’s okay. The MMA guy could have done way more damage, man. He was being nice, dude. I don’t know what we watched but that was so weird. Do we even need to do another breakdown man? So, okay let’s do it.

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

He starts off with kind of a…look at that MMA guy. The Chinese word for his expression is (Speaks in Chinese) ‘wu nai’, which means like, ‘I don’t know what to do’. So, our Wing Chun guy goes in. All right no he’s not a Wing Chun guy. Our kung fu hobbyist goes in just tries to tackle. And then he tries to do like spinning hurricane. He literally is trying to do a hurricane. And now that didn’t work. Hammer fist, a right, left.

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

I don’t think he’s ever punched with gloves before. Look at this, look at this, look at this. Now he’s trying to, he’s doing, he’s doing (Speaks in Chinese) which is a mythical Chinese thing. It’s like completely fictional. It’s a, it’s kind of like a Chinese fictional palm technique. How are you going to do a palm technique with gloves on, man? Look at this MMA guy just destroy him. Guys, I can’t do this bad.

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

This whole video is 22 minutes long, so, you guys if you want to see the whole sequence, you know, um, them signing the entire contract, saying you know, if anyone gets hurt or something no one’s liable. This guy is very popular in Taiwan. (Speaks in Chinese) He is, um, I don’t know when he started this channel, but he shares more subscribers than Fight Commentary Breakdowns. And guys this was streamed live, you see. There’s a live chat, so, he embarrassed the guy live, man. It’s crazy dude.

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

This is a different type of delusion because I don’t think this guy has trained a day in his life. I think at this point this is not even funny, as much as I did laugh. This is so sad, it’s so sad. Like this guy’s not like some of those people who are at least dancing. I don’t even think this guy has ever danced. He literally looks like a guy who’s never ever even thought about fighting. Fighting for the first time, that’s how you would look.

Jerry Liu (Journalist/Comedian, 8+ years Kung Fu Study, Sporadic Training In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu):

Or this is a complete comedy and we all got trolled. What do you guys think, did we get trolled or are there people this delusional in Taiwan, China. Like it’s crazy, man. Like he literally said (Speaks in Chinese) See, he’s, um, priming up to do a, do it like a technique that’s invented from a novel by Louis Chau. What’s going on, man? Okay, guys.
