The transcript below is from the video “Top 10 One Man Army Fights in Movies” by The TV Regent.

The TV Regent:

What scenes are the most exciting in movies? Fight scenes of course. Heroes are often close to death and have to use as much intelligence and force as possible to survive… Hi-fi heroes faced with several enemies. What does it take to defeat 210 maybe even a hundred enemies? In today’s videos will be discussing the top 10 one-man-army movie fights.

The TV Regent:

10. Trashing the Gang | Transporter 2

Starting off the list we have Jason Statham trashing the gang. One of the most brutal Hollywood actors, it seems sometimes that Statham can damage people with only his sight. But in this movie he had to work a lot with his hands. Don’t ask me why villains took their cold weapons to fight, when they already had guns in their hands. I just don’t know. Let’s just say the scene wouldn’t have been so badass without this move. Statham uses the objects surrounding him professionally whether it was a fire extinguisher or just a simple pipe. In Jason’s hands everything becomes a deadly weapon. The ending of this scene is priceless and I don’t mean the Jamaican guy now you know why the movie was called the Transporter. Jason transported the bad guys into the trash bin.

[Dialogue]: Before we get started does anyone want to get out?

The TV Regent:

9. Elevator Fight | Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Next up we have the Elevator Fight. When you’re stuck with Chris Evans in one elevator, just think twice and take your opportunity to leave when you’re offered the chance to, because Captain America is not trapped in an elevator with multiple armed men, they’re all trapped in an elevator with him. It’s wonderful how they can make such an action scene in such a small little space. It seems like a camera can barely fit in there. In fact you can have a fight with 10 or more people in that elevator. It’s a great fight scene with one person handling a group of professional soldiers and it really looks natural although it’s a superhero movie. Captain America can handle all the attackers even without his shield. At some point the situation even gets out of hand and Captain America has a dozen guns pointed at him and he’s asked to drop his shield and raise his hands and he literally drops the elevator. The shield helps him escape the elevator smoothing the floor from the 25th floor. The are you kidding me from Agent Sitwell is a perfect and hilarious ending of this epic scene.

The TV Regent:

8. Leon Vs NYPD | Leon the Professional

And at number eight we have a pure classic… Leon against the NYPD. Despite being a good friend to sociopath Leon, Matilda brought with her loads of problems. The anonymous assassin is exposed and now he’s facing all of the city’s police. They took Matilda as a hostage but she outsmarted the SWAT with a false knock and now the show begins. Not only does Leone kill the squad in seconds, he scares the rest of the police to death. The way the squad backs off when Jean Reno takes a hostage is just hilarious. They’re so slick at the beginning but then they totally fall apart as Leon rips them to shreds. I have to admit though the scene acting with covered faces really transfers their fear and apprehension. Man down I told you. Gary Oldman’s also worth mentioning who improvised most of this film.

The TV Regent:

7. Hallway Shootout | Kick Ass

At number seven we’ve got the Hallway Shootout from Kick Ass. Who’s that little innocent girl? Don’t be so naïve. She’s a vicious killer. Have you seen the trick she did with a rope and a gun? That’s so cruel isn’t it? Hit Girl has the same style as our favorite Deadpool because she uses guns in the same way or is it more like Neo from the Matrix actually… But later on about that. The soundtrack perfectly fits the scene too. Little girl manages to kill men twice her size on every beat. I don’t know whether to be entertained or horrified. Leaving the last bandit alive was such a vintage cliché wasn’t it?

The TV Regent:

6. Cave Escape | Iron Man 2

Let’s get to a Marvel classic now shall we. At number 6 we have Iron Man escaping the cave. Ironically Tony Stark was ambushed by terrorists who were selling his weapons. Now he’s forced to make rockets for enemies but Tony is not that easy to deal with. He finds a way out of this situation and uses the presented tools to build his first-ever Iron Man costume. It’s so cool how he made a suit from scrap. He’s literally throwing enemies away from his path who can’t seem to shoot through his armor, not even that guy who came so close to make a headshot. The way this guy died from a ricochet was priceless by the way. And look at the Stark costume. It seems unwieldy, but man he’s got a flamethrower on it. Unfortunately though Yinsen could not live to be free but his words of encouragement said to me help Tony realize that life must be valued. This moment was crucial to the transformation of playboy Tony in Tony Stark the superhero.

The TV Regent:

5. Staircase Fight | Atomic Blonde

And number five we have the gorgeous Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde. A medium sized female against too strong looking savage men. It’s a pretty realistic fight isn’t it? They throw this girl around like a rag doll and the only time she throws one is with a hip throw, the rest of the time she’s fighting defensively and dirty for example at the moment with the throat shot. We see both the main character and bad guys getting tired, sloppy and slow as the fight continues. In this movie every hit actually means something. They just love long fight scenes with no music and explosions, just pure emotion. I’ll also mention the camerawork as well because the camera angles are so good you can actually feel the action. It’s a really unique experience. By the way when did you realize that this was all done in one take great movie and a badass scene starring a self-sufficient woman Charlize Theron more like Charlize Terror.

The TV Regent:

4. Neo vs Agent Smith’s Multiply

Is there anyone who hasn’t seen this Matrix movie yet? At number 4 we have Neo versus Agent Smith. It was a tense standoff in the first movie. But what about facing multiple agents some fans didn’t even hesitate to count. Neo fought at the same time with a hundred and ninety five agents. This scene is considered a classic of cinematography and we know why the Wachowski sisters were among the first to use the slow-mo, so it’s fair to say they invented it and in this film it still looks pretty decent, the music is good and the variety of fight techniques blows your mind. We see Neo being pushed to his limits for the first time. We know him as the chosen one who learns and progresses faster than anyone, but we didn’t have a clue about his abilities’ limits. Even when he stands alone against 200 enemies, we see Agent Smith fearing the power and strength of Neo and of course the best part of this scene is when Neo flies away and all agents are just casually walking away. Couldn’t you just fly away earlier? Well if you did we wouldn’t have this brilliant scene then of course. Would we?

The TV Regent:

3. The Bride vs the Crazy 88 | Kill Bill

Number three we have a fight scene from the best Tarantino movie so far- Kill Bill. Who else is capable of creating a scene that can hold under pressure for 10 minutes. Tarantino masterfully conveys the spirit of Asian action movies in Hollywood at some point Uma Thurman is handling Oren Ishi’s Bodyguards, until she realizes why this gang is called the crazy 88. Can’t compare with Agent Smith’s of course but the bride isn’t the chosen one either. Actually quite possibly she turned the party into a bloody massacre. The picture had to be turned in black and white either because of excessive violence or because of a lack of artificial blood. Either way that feature made the scene even more fascinating. I’d also like to mention the funny moment with a young gang member who was spanked for his bad behavior. This scene used to seem ridiculous and now I understand the meaning that the filmmaker wanted to convey. Kids don’t mess with bad company unless you want to be spanked.

The TV Regent:

2. Bruce Lee vs The Gang | Way of the Dragon

Our top wouldn’t be complete without martial arts master Bruce Lee. It’s best to call this seen Bruce Lee against some ridiculous thugs. It’s a great scene where violence is intertwined with humor. Bruce Lee is such a brat, isn’t he? He throws away a firearm at the start of the fight just to have more fun with the gang, Even when he’s having that fun, he’s focused as much as possible. His every move is thought through and he exploits the weakness of each enemy individually. A simple stick transforms into a deadly weapon in the hands of a master. The size of the stick isn’t important here, it’s not important how you use it. And what do you think about nunchucks thanks to the Bruce Lee movies this cold weapon has become popular all over the world and how many fans bought them for themselves it’s hard to underestimate Bruce Lee’s contribution to fight scenes.

The TV Regent:

1. Warehouse Fight | Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

And finally at number one we have the warehouse fight. We have to give special credit to Zack Snyder. He makes the most realistic superheroes in his movies. They look shady and gritty at some point. Our Batman is a perfect example. We can see the depth of his character perfectly. In this fight scene Ben Affleck plays is probably the cruelest Batman of all time. He fights like an animal. He gives out deadly punches very generously and doesn’t hesitate to inflict maximum damage and is still a superhero who’s trying to keep all his enemies alive. Just to send them to prison later of course. This feels like the first Batman you could actually be afraid of; he’s supposed to be someone you didn’t want to come in contact with regardless of if you’re good or bad. We should also remember the concept of the movie Batman was trained to fight Superman. Pretty funny huh. So with that we reached the end of our list today. We recap the classics of the cinema. The best of the best. And what makes them the best are thrilling fight scenes, each one more unique and interesting than the other. So do you agree with this list?
